Health and well-being coaches can have a profound impact as they support people to increase
their ability to self-manage, motivate and commit to change their lifestyle.
This is my reason behind dedicating and addressing not only physical but also holistic well-being by integrating Health & Wellness consulting.
Consultants are experts in behavioural change and focus on improving health related outcomes by working with people to set personalised goals and change their behaviours.
We work with people with physical and/or emotional health conditions and those at risk of developing them.
A consultant's main role is to help people to take an active role in looking after their own health and well-being. Particularly people with long-term conditions that can be managed through lifestyle changes. We aim to help people make these positive lifestyle changes, with the aim of leading to long-term behavioural change to positively impact on their lives.
This can be achieved through setting goals and targets, establishing healthier habits and increasing people's knowledge, skills and confidence.
When working with patients it’s important that the consultant isn’t making decisions and choices for the individual. The emphasis of these sessions is to centre around the individual and what matters to them.
By focusing on things that motivate and are important in their lives we encompass this ‘personalised care’ approach.
Building a trusting relationship and rapport is very important. It helps support work towards their self-identified goals and is the essential work of a Health & Well-being Consultant.
